Mid-May 2018, the Nest security system and connected home platform disconnected for about an hour, once again highlighting some of the unexpected frustrations faced by those who have invested heavily in the Internet of Things. The Nest application has been completely disconnected, affecting a variety of devices on Android and iOS. Nest first acknowledged reports from Nest Secure and Nest x Yale Lock users who complained that they were unable to arm or disarm the security system or lock or unlock the lock connected by the application. However, the physical checks on the devices themselves were not affected. Subsequently, the company confirmed that the problem was not limited to these two products. Indeed, it was indicated on Twitter that some users absolutely could not load the application.
