On April 23, Wing Aviation, the startup born in the Google X Lab, announced in an official statement the Federal Aviation Administation (FAA) authorizes the flight of its delivery drones. It thus becomes the first company to be able to fly delivery drones in the US, ahead of Amazon. The start-up Wing Aviation has carried out thousand flights to test its drones, notably in Canberra, Australia. Wing Aviation will make its first official deliveries in Blacksburg, Virginia. These drones will transport food and medicines. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine L. Chao, said it was an “important step forward for test safety and the integration of drones” in the U.S. economy. “Security remains our number one priority as this technology continues to develop and achieves its full potential”. This agreement from the FAA could greatly facilitate the projects of other companies such as Amazon, DHL or UPS.
